Website terms of use
Terms for the website and free entry check.
These Terms govern your use of readyfordiscovery.com and the free website entry check provided by FirstReader LLC, doing business as Ready for Discovery ("Ready for Discovery," "I," or "me").
When the website asks you to accept these Terms before using a feature, selecting the acceptance box and submitting that feature means you agree to the version linked there. If you act for a business or other organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for it. If you do not agree, do not use the feature that requires acceptance.

Coverage and authority
1. What these Terms cover
These Terms cover the public website and free website entry check. They do not govern a paid audit, repair, monitoring engagement, or other paid service. Paid work begins only under a separate signed agreement. If these Terms conflict with a signed agreement for paid work, the signed agreement controls for that work.
Reading the website, sending an inquiry, or running the free check does not create a consulting, professional-services, fiduciary, or client relationship.
2. Eligibility and authority
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding agreement to accept these Terms.
You may run the website entry check only for a website that you own or manage, or that you have permission from the owner to check. You may not submit a private, preview, staging, credentialed, token-bearing, or otherwise nonpublic address. Do not submit passwords, account credentials, private access links, payment information, or personal information through the check.
Limited automated observation
3. What the free website entry check does
The entry check is a limited, automated review of a public website response. It starts with the public homepage address you submit and may inspect a bounded sample of up to ten same-site links found in returned HTML. It does not sign in, submit forms, activate booking or contact actions, or deliberately download files.
The result is a point-in-time observation, not a complete audit. It may be affected by temporary outages, redirects, bot protection, location, website configuration, JavaScript-dependent content, or changes made before or after the check. A result may miss a problem or flag something that needs human verification.
The entry check is not a security or penetration test, malware certification, accessibility or WCAG certification, or legal, privacy, tax, or regulatory review. It does not determine whether a site is indexed, ranks, will receive traffic, or will be displayed or recommended by a search engine, directory, AI system, or other platform.
I may rate-limit, block, suspend, change, or discontinue the entry check when reasonably necessary to protect the service, investigate misuse, comply with law, or operate the business.
4. Acceptable use
You may use the website and free check only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not:
- check a website without the authority described in Section 2;
- use the website or check to violate another person's rights or any applicable law;
- evade a rate limit, security control, access restriction, or usage boundary;
- access the check's underlying service directly, automate submissions, or use it at high volume without my written permission;
- interfere with, overload, probe, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the website, check, or related systems, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits an activity that cannot be restricted by agreement;
- introduce malicious code or use the service to attack, surveil, harass, impersonate, or mislead another person; or
- present a check result as a certification, guarantee, complete audit, or finding that has been verified by Ready for Discovery when it has not.
Use and reliance
5. Results and reliance
Entry-check results are general information to help identify what may deserve a closer look. You are responsible for verifying a result before changing a website, account, business process, or spending decision. You remain responsible for your website, accounts, content, legal obligations, and business decisions.
You may save and share a result for a website you are authorized to check, including with your professional advisers or website provider. You may not sell the result as a competing service, remove or misrepresent its source, or use Ready for Discovery's site, interface, code, methods, or reusable materials to create or market a competing checker.
No website content or free result promises indexing, ranking, search position, impressions, traffic, clicks, inquiries, bookings, revenue, reviews, recommendations, AI citations, or any other business outcome.
6. Paid services
Descriptions, prices, examples, and invitations on the website are general information and may be changed or withdrawn. A paid engagement exists only when Ready for Discovery and the client accept a separate written agreement and the agreement's stated start conditions are met. That agreement sets the scope, fee, schedule, ownership, confidentiality, warranties, remedies, liability, and dispute terms for the paid work.
Rights and third parties
7. Ownership and limited permission
The website, entry check, original site content, branding, design, code, templates, methods, and reusable materials are owned by FirstReader LLC or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Except for the limited uses these Terms allow, no right or license is granted by implication.
You retain your rights in the website address and content you are authorized to submit. You grant Ready for Discovery the limited permission needed to receive the submitted address, request the public website and bounded same-site sample, process the returned content, and display the result to you. The Privacy Policy explains how information is handled.
Ownership and permitted use of a paid client's report and materials are governed by the applicable signed agreement, not this section.
8. Third-party websites and services
The website and entry check depend on or may link to services that Ready for Discovery does not control. Third parties may change or interrupt their services and apply their own terms and privacy practices. A website you ask the check to visit may record the request in its own logs.
Ready for Discovery is not responsible for third-party content, availability, security, policies, decisions, or data practices. A link, observation, or reference does not endorse a third party or guarantee that its information is accurate or current.
Warranties and liability
9. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the public website and free entry check are provided "as is" and "as available." Ready for Discovery disclaims warranties concerning their accuracy, completeness, availability, uninterrupted operation, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, noninfringement, and results.
Some laws do not allow certain warranty exclusions. In that event, an exclusion applies only to the extent the law permits. This section does not change any express warranty in a separate signed agreement for paid work.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ready for Discovery will not be liable for lost profits, lost revenue, lost business, loss of goodwill, loss of data, or indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from the public website or free entry check, even if advised that such damages were possible.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ready for Discovery's total aggregate liability arising from the public website or free entry check will not exceed the greater of US$100 or the amount you paid Ready for Discovery specifically for the website or free entry check during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These limits do not apply where applicable law does not allow them. Liability arising from a paid service is governed by the separate signed agreement for that service.
11. Your responsibility for misuse
You are responsible for third-party claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your checking a website without the required authority, violating another person's rights, or otherwise using the website or check unlawfully or in material violation of these Terms, except to the extent the claim was caused by Ready for Discovery's negligence or willful misconduct.
Changes and governing law
12. Changes, suspension, and termination
I may update these Terms prospectively when the website, check, services, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will identify the current version. If a feature requires acceptance, you will be asked to accept the then-current version before using it.
I may suspend or end your access to the website or free check for a violation of these Terms, a security risk, suspected abuse, legal requirements, or discontinuation of the service. Sections that by their nature should continue after access ends, including ownership, disclaimers, liability, responsibility for misuse, and disputes, will continue.
13. Disputes and governing law
Before filing a claim, you and Ready for Discovery will give the other written notice describing the dispute and spend at least thirty days attempting in good faith to resolve it. You may send a notice to the email address in the Contact section. Ready for Discovery may send a notice to an email or mailing address you used in your communications with it. This notice period does not prevent either party from seeking urgent relief to protect an account, confidential information, intellectual property, or another right that could be irreparably harmed.
South Carolina law governs these Terms, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Subject to any right that applicable law does not permit these Terms to restrict, a lawsuit arising from these Terms must be filed in a state court located in Berkeley County, South Carolina, or a federal court serving that county.
14. General terms
These Terms are the complete agreement for the public website and free entry check. The Privacy Policy explains how information is handled. Neither document replaces a signed agreement for paid work. If one provision of these Terms is unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted and the remaining provisions will continue. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.
The parties agree to conduct transactions under these Terms electronically. Electronic records and actions may be used to show acceptance. You may save or print these Terms for your records.
