Website audit for small businesses

Know what's wrong before paying to fix it.

You receive a documented, prioritized repair plan you can keep, use yourself, or hand to the person already updating your site.

We follow the route from search to your business and show where the route breaks. The audit separates confirmed problems from things that merely look suspicious.

Want a smaller first step? The $79 Website Mini-Audit reviews one public customer route and delivers a 2–3 page report within 24 hours after payment.

Audit credit
If you hire Ready for Discovery to complete the repairs within 30 calendar days after audit delivery, the audit fee you paid is credited once toward that work.
Expected delivery
Within 10 business days after the agreement is signed, payment is received, required access works, and requested information is supplied.

Repairs are optional and priced separately after the audit establishes the actual work. You may use the report yourself, give it to your existing website provider, or ask Ready for Discovery to quote the repairs. The credit is subject to the limits in the signed agreement.

The areas examined

What the audit covers

Website operation
Important pages, navigation, links, missing images, redirects, error pages, and public drafts or templates are checked. Representative pages are rendered on desktop and mobile rather than judged from code alone.
Search access and page identity
Sitemaps, crawl instructions, canonical addresses, titles, descriptions, headings, internal links, and image descriptions are examined for missing or contradictory information.
Google's recorded evidence
With read-only Search Console access, the public site is compared with Google's record of submitted, discovered, indexed, and visited pages. Search queries and traffic are included only when that evidence is available.
Local business information
When included, the Google Business Profile is reviewed for ownership, categories, services, location or service area, hours, reviews, website destinations, and possible duplicates.
Loading and interaction
Controlled mobile and desktop tests are run on representative pages. Public field data is considered when available, and measured symptoms are kept separate from possible causes.
Domain and ordinary email checks
Public domain records and common business-email authentication records are checked for omissions or conflicts. This isn't mailbox access, an email campaign review, or a security penetration test.

Tools find candidates; a person verifies findings

A count isn't enough.

Automated checks make it possible to examine an entire site. They can also misunderstand redirects, image links, page templates, and deliberate design choices. A raw scanner result doesn't go into the client report as fact.

Material findings are checked against the live page and the available account evidence. The report distinguishes confirmed defects, informed judgments, unavailable evidence, and candidates rejected during review.

A durable record

What you receive

  • A written audit report that can be saved and shared with your website provider.
  • A prioritized list of verified findings, with affected pages and supporting evidence.
  • A clear record of anything important that couldn't be checked and why.
  • Recommended next steps, separated by likely visitor impact, business risk, confidence, and effort.
  • One review call, if requested within the period stated in the agreement.

See the fictional sample website audit report to review the owner brief, technical specifications, acceptance criteria, and explicit limitations.

The audit diagnoses the work. If you want Ready for Discovery to make the repairs, the fixes are described and priced separately after the actual workload is known.

Limited and delegated

What access is needed

The public website is reviewed first. Google Search Console is normally requested as a Full user because it supplies evidence that can't be reconstructed from the public site. Analytics Viewer and Google Business Profile Manager access are requested only when those accounts are included in the agreed scope.

You keep ownership of every account. I don't ask for mailbox access, a Google Workspace super-administrator role, Google Business Profile ownership, banking credentials, payment credentials, or your master passwords.

What the audit isn't

Diagnosis isn't a guarantee.

The audit doesn't include repairs, redesign, copywriting, or ongoing monitoring. It isn't a security penetration test, a formal accessibility or WCAG certification, or legal and regulatory advice.

Not promised

No ranking, indexing date, traffic, inquiry, booking, revenue, review, or AI recommendation. The audit makes the current state understandable and the next decision better informed.
